My Son Can Dance

One Mom's Musings About Boys in the Dance World

Proud Momma Must Brag Just a Little…

February 14, 2011 by Nina 3 Comments

Four summer intensives down, three results in: one merit scholarship (SAB), two full scholarships (ABT and SFB). Still waiting on Juilliard; we have only been told he is still in the running.

Ballet training pays off, guys…that’s all I can say.

Oh, and I go to see Julian’s emerging choreography piece for RDA performed…very nice, if I do say so myself!

Okay. I’ll shut up now. YAGP in two weeks. Should be humbling since they just switched their pax; don’t ask… However, his partner just got a job with the Joffrey.

Congratulations to Julian! We have a boy here from Iowa named Adrian who received the same full ride as Julian did from SAB. He is FANTASTIC at age 14 and one of 7 kids. While he dances at a different studio than my son, they have performed together in the local Nutcracker and I love talking to his mom every chance I get! She is a hoot! Hopefully the boys will get a chance to hang out at SAB. 8)

I hope so, too. Tell him to look for Julian and say, “Hi.” Julian may be in the older age group. He’s 16 going on 17.
