Today was photo shoot day at Teen Dance Company. We were there at 9:15 and didn’t leave until 1:45, missing Nutcracker rehearsal. But Julian had fun, as did the other 20 dancers. And they all looked so nice!
The girls all showed up with their hair and make up done and looking oh, so pretty! Everyone wore black. And teh girls were positioned along with the boys in a variety of group shots first. Then they got to do some group action shots. Julian was pleased, because the photographer, Paige Day, asked him to do some partnering and lifts. He doesn’t often get asked to do this. He’s only 5’4″, 114 pounds, and looks quite scrawny, but he’s actually very muscled and strong for someone so short and thin.
After this they all got to do solo action shots or some sort of dance-related pose. Then, after lunch, head shots were taken.
Julian made sure his hair was just right and struck a few break dancing and jazzy poses as well as doing some toe touches. We’ll see what comes out.
The photos Paige turns out tend to be beautiful. Normally I’m not too excited about spending money on photos at the studio. These, however, are professional looking head shots you could actually give out during an audition. They are artistic as well. So, I’m actually excited to have had them done. I suppose any dancer – male or female – who is serious about dancing at least needs a good head shot.
Paige is the one who told me about TDC. (I just happened to sit next to her at the Studio 10 recital/show last year.) Julian and I saw her daughter dance and were impressed.
